How To Recognise Demonic Oppression as a Christian Believer

Before we go further into the topic, read this scripture — Romans 6. Please, take some time to meditate on it after reading.

Dear Christian Believer,

Romans 6 says

πŸ”₯1 - Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more kindness and forgiveness?

πŸ“Œ2 - Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?

πŸŽ‰3 - Or have you forgotten that when we became Christians and were baptized to become one with Christ Jesus, we died with him?

πŸ”₯4 - For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.

πŸ“Œ5 - Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised as he was.

πŸŽ‰6 - Our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.

πŸ”₯7 - For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.

πŸ“Œ8 - And since we died with Christ, we know we will also share his new life.

πŸŽ‰9 - We are sure of this because Christ rose from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him.

πŸ”₯10 - He died once to defeat sin, and now he lives for the glory of God.

πŸ“Œ11 - So you should consider yourselves dead to sin and able to live for the glory of God through Christ Jesus.

πŸŽ‰12 - Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to its lustful desires.

πŸ”₯13 - Do not let any part of your body become a tool of wickedness, to be used for sinning. Instead, give yourselves completely to God since you have been given new life. And use your whole body as a tool to do what is right for the glory of God.

πŸ“Œ14 - Sin is no longer your master, for you are no longer subject to the law, which enslaves you to sin. Instead, you are free by God's grace.

πŸŽ‰15 - So since God's grace has set us free from the law, does this mean we can go on sinning? Of course not!

πŸ”₯16 - Don't you realize that whatever you choose to obey becomes your master? You can choose sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God and receive his approval.

πŸ“Œ17 - Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you have obeyed with all your heart the new teaching God has given you.

πŸ”₯18 - Now you are free from sin, your old master, and you have become slaves to your new master, righteousness.

πŸŽ‰19 - I speak this way, using the illustration of slaves and masters, because it is easy to understand. Before, you let yourselves be slaves of impurity and lawlessness. Now you must choose to be slaves of righteousness so that you will become holy.

πŸ“Œ20 - In those days, when you were slaves of sin, you weren't concerned with doing what was right.

πŸ”₯21 - And what was the result? It was not good, since now you are ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom.

πŸŽ‰22 - But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.

πŸ“Œ23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (NLT)

Recognizing Demonic Oppression

I learnt this a while back and have been thinking on it. This is what I understand.

Anytime there is a uncontrollable compulsion/impulsiveness to commit any type of sin — lying, stealing, slothfulness, selfishness, masturbation, fighting, uncontrollable anger, envy, fear, backbiting, etc. as seen in Galatians 5 below...

Galatians 5
πŸ“Œ19 - When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, your lives will produce these evil results:

❌sexual immorality, impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure,

❌20 - idolatry, participation in demonic activities, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, divisions, the feeling that everyone is wrong except those in your own little group,

❌21 - envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other kinds of sin.

πŸ“ŒLet me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. (NLT)

...Such compulsion is usually sponsored by the Enemy — usually a demonic oppression preying on the weaknesses of the flesh. So, let's stay conscious and aware.

As seen in the photo above, the earlier read works of the flesh are some of the activities that play out in the life of a Christian who is under demonic oppression.

Proffering A Solution

So, what's the Solution? Well, the spirit behind such compulsion should be cast out by the authority in the name of Jesus!

Consciously declare God's words (your real reality) concerning the situation until your mind and heart acknowledges it.  That's why it's important for us to fill our minds with God's words and His promises written about us in the scriptures.

It's the word on our inside that we use to combat the lies of the enemy and his cohorts.

Always remember that Jesus Christ has given us the spirit of self control, as well as other Fruit of the Holy Spirit as seen in Galatians 5.

πŸ”₯22 - But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us:

πŸ“Œlove, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

πŸŽ‰23 - gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law.

πŸ”₯24 - Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.

πŸ“Œ25 - If we are living now by the Holy Spirit, let us follow the Holy Spirit's leading in every part of our lives. (NLT)

Conclusion

May God endow us with more grace by His Holy Spirit to be transformed in our mind, to stay aligned with His will and to show His nature in our character and daily lifestyle.πŸ™πŸΌ
