SHOWING LOVE THE RIGHT WAY PART 2

Hello to you, my lovely reader. Thank you for following my blog and for your constant encouragement.

Today, we would continue our series 'Showing Love the Right Way.'

I first heard and read about Love languages in Gary Chapman's 'Five Love Languages' which have different editions - For singles and for married (I recommend this book, it is a must-read for every individual).

Basically, five love languages exist, they are:
  1. Quality time
  2. Words of affirmation
  3. Acts of service
  4. Receiving gifts
  5. Physical touch
Before I proceed with the concept of Love languages, I would first state the qualities of love as it is in the Holy Bible. 1st Cor. 13:4-7 says:

"Love is patient, Love is kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, is not rude, is not self-seeking, is not easily angered, keeps no record of wrongs, does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth, always protects, always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres."

The scriptures also makes it clear that it is not possible to say you love God whom you cannot see when you cannot love your neighbour whom you can see (1st John 4:20)

At this junction, I must point out the fact that walking in love is not easy because of our human nature, but as Christians, we have the privilege of the Holy Spirit who resides in us, He is capable of quickening our mortal bodies (Rom. 8:11). All we need do is ask for His help through prayers and follow His leading.

So, let's bring our attention back to the issue of Love languages. Each love language is unique and no love language is better than the other. I would be doing a little summary on each of the love languages, I hope you'll gain a thing or more from what I have to say.

Your love language as a person is your default way (natural way) of expressing or showing love to those around you, especially friends, family and loved ones. To know a person's love language, you have to understand that person by relating with and studying him or her. Each individual has at least two major love languages that he or she speaks fluently out of the five listed above, these are his or her primary and secondary love languages respectively.

... To be continued...
