HONESTY VS DISHONESTY: A SEARCH LIGHT INTO OUR LIVES

Hello lovely Readers, thank you for staying with me and for your constant encouragement.

Today, we'll be discussing a sensitive topic which is Dishonesty. It has become a norm in our society today for people to be dishonest. People say one thing and mean another. And what is the end result? Distrust.

Yes! Distrust. A worm that is slowly eating up our lives as individuals and collectively.

I'll like to draw our attention to the Holy Bible, if you take your time to study it, you'll notice a lot of emphasis on Honesty.
"Let your yeah be yeah and your nay be nay." "Say the truth and the truth shall set you free."
Dishonesty is born out of a mindset of fear, the fear that if they say the truth, they will be punished or ridiculed especially when they make a mistake. The question I like to ask myself is "What is the worst thing that can happen if I say the truth?" The worst thing that can happen is death, but remember the Christian martyrs? Dying for the truth is always worth it, it leaves a stamp on the world. But if not death, then remember the saying "Anything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger." In other words, it strengthens your resolve and confidence.

So why should one be dishonest? Truth be told dishonesty, is like digging a grave for oneself. 'Cos for every lie you tell, you have to tell another lie to cover it up and then you start to swim in an ocean of lies and the fear of being found out.

At the end of the day, the consequences of telling a lie are far worse than that of speaking the truth. Do you see the truth in the scripture "The truth shall set you free?" When you are known for being honest, it opens doors for you but dishonesty brings an opposite result, distrust. People doubt every word you say even when you are being honest. They see you as manipulative. Which leads to closed doors.

Being honest pays in every area of life, even business. Never do anything out of fear, because the end result is always negative.
"For He has not given us a Spirit of fear but of Power, of Love and a sound mind..."
What informs the decisions you make? Ask yourself. And make deliberate effort to work on yourself, to become better...
